Intestinal bacteria commonly found in dogs and cats (regardless of the type of food they consume) includes E-coli which refers to a wide range of bacteria that can cause various diseases, including pneumonia, urinary tract infections, and diarrhoea in children and adults.
When pets faeces are removed from artificial lawn, a “fecal residue” containing E-coli can remain on the area. Due to the nature of the lawn base the fecal residue cannot be “washed through”. The E-coli needs to be eliminated to prevent possible illness.
Toddlers and children are high risk candidates for E-coli infection as their hands can make contact with the fecal residue when playing on the lawn and the bacteria is transferred if they put their hands in their mouth thereafter.
